This Is For You LP – Lyrics

01. This Is For You
Instrumental

02. I Hope It Won’t Go Away
I picked up the phone
And I heard it ringing.
Thinking about what I was doing
And asked myself, “What’s happening?”

Thinking about what’s gonna happen.
What should I say?
Was this really the end?
Would it all go away?

Well I talked for awhile,
Trying to decide what to do.
Should I bring it up,
or should we try to work through?

I asked you what we should do.
You said, “I think we should wait.”
Then I said, “Okay,”
But maybe that’s too late.

You said time should tell,
But that’s the matter here
We’re still so young and
It’s nearly been a whole year.

Maybe its time,
Time for us
To see other people.

It may take some time,
Time to get,
To get through this.

I hope it won’t go away.

03. One Last Dance
One last dance.
Can I have just one last dance?

I look over at you,
Thinking about the past.
I look over at you,
Hoping that it will last.

I look over at you,
Remembering what we’ve done.
I look over at you,
Hopefully it won’t be gone.

One last dance.
Can I have just one last dance?

I look over at you,
I want to end it just right.
I look over at you
I’m so glad we did not fight.

One last dance.
Can I have just one last dance?

I walk over to you,
I want to ask you one thing.
I look into your eyes,
Can I please have something?

One last dance.
Can I have just one last dance?

04. Jessi’s Song
Scared,
Scared to be alone.
Call me on the phone,
If I can help you.

Please
Don’t hesitate.
Don’t even wait
If you think you need me

You say
We’re so special to you,
Well we love you too,
You mean so much to

Us.
How can you see
Just how much we
Really need you too.

What can we do
To help you?
Ahh-ahh

Every guy
You’ve loved has turned you down.
Well, maybe you’ve not found
The one for you yet.

Do
You really need a guy?
If so I’ll ask you why.
Don’t feel like that’s required.

What can we do
To help you?
Ahh-ahh

05. Indecision
Have you ever been lost,
Couldn’t find your way back?

You were scared, felt alone,
All you wanted was to go back.

But then suddenly
Things began to change.
You felt more at home.

Something reminded you
Of the way it used to be
And you want it back.

Indecision.

06. Let Me Go
Trying to fluster me.
Trying to win back my heart.

You say you love me.
Trying to get me to come back
–I’m not quite gone yet.

Let me go,
I need a way out.
Let me out,
But I want to still be friends.
The choice is all yours.

You can try
Yo hold on to me,
But you cant hold something that’s not there.
The choice is all yours.

You need to move on.
You need to let go.

I’m walking out the door now.
Please lets still be friends
That’s all I’ll ask you.

Let me go,
I need a way out.
Let me out,
But I want to still be friends.
The choice is all yours.

You can try
To hold on to me.
But you cant hold something that’s not there.
The choice is all yours.

07. Happy
I hope
This song brings some light to your life.
I hope it helps you
When you are down.

You’re a beautiful person.
I want you to know.
Like a rose, some thorns,
But still beautiful.

A dark cave
With treasures unknown.
What seems to be a gloomy place
Can really be a paradise.

There’s no doubt in my mind
That there is something special between us.
We go to each other
When there’s no one else to go to.

Happy,
Won’t you be happy
Instead of sad?
Happy,
Won’t you be happy?
For once,
Just try.

I hope
This song brings some light to your life.
I hope it helps you
When you are down.

Happy,
Won’t you be happy
Instead of sad?
Happy,
Won’t you be happy?
For once,
Just try.

08. Metaphor
A book,
Just ready to be read.
So much to be expressed.
Just longs to be opened,
Split wide open.

Balloon,
Just let out a little air.
No difference is really seen.
But in the end its flat
–Just as flat as can be.

Metaphor,
I am a metaphor.
Just like so much else.
There’s so much that explains me,
So much I want to explain.

Notebook,
Sometimes its all empty.
With nothing there to find,
Deserving so much more,
But completely blank.

Sometimes
It might just be full
Of endless emotion,
Expression, of all…
…All that’s in side of me.

Metaphor,
I am a metaphor.
Just like so much else.
There’s so much that explains me,
So much I want to explain.

Please help!
I need a way out!
A way out of this thing,
This thing that is me,
Just get out of my own head

–But who will be the reader?
To whom will I explain myself
And all that is in me?

Metaphor
I am a metaphor.
Just like so much else.
There’s so much that explains me,
So much I want to explain.

09. Apology
I said I was
Leaving.
“Go away.”
Believing
That wouldn’t hurt.
How I was wrong.
What can I do
But sing this song?

I thought it was
The right thing.
I guess I was
Lying.
Our past is black,
But now its good.
I apologize
because I should.

I’m sorry.

Now all is well,
We’re friends.
But this is not
The end.
Just wait for me
And you will see.
Something might change.
Maybe we’ll be…

I’m sorry.

10. Suffusion
The water falls on me with regret.
Mildew building at the base of the curtain and the shower head.
The love that once was and still is, but not real.
It’s false. It’s corrupt.
It’s gone but it’s there.

The clock seen through the curtain hole.
Telling me how much time has slipped through my fingers.
How many wrongs had been but not righted.
The air steaming.
The clock ticking.

Soon, I’ll have no choice but to get out and get dressed.
These dark garments that I wear mirror the truth
The darkness and shadows conceal from view
What used to be here
Living and true.

11. Carefree Simplicity
“Carefree simplicity.”
It’s not all that it seemed to be.
Because all is not carefree.
Something unsettled inside of me.

And I wish I knew why.
Sometimes I just want to cry.
Maybe it’s just a big lie.
I need to know why, why?

Something is just not right.
Inside of me a constant fight.
But I do know what’s right,
And I do see the light.

Why am I even writing this?
It’s nothing I would ever miss.
Then I think of when I got that kiss,
There’s not even any point to this.

So I’ll stop writing,
I’ll stop the fighting.
Down on my lip I’ll just keep biting
And just enjoy this scene’s lighting.

12. The Song For You
The lights
Are all a blur
As I
Look over at her.

The music that I hear
Is just a fuzzy sound in my ear
As I recall
When she was here.

The lights
Slip through my grasp
While I
Remember the past

The music fades away
While I try to relive the day
When I thought
That we would stay

This is the song,
The song I never wrote for you.
The song,
The song I owe to you.
